I have a dream. Epochal words that started a movement. Not that I am planning on anything of that sort. But I too had a dream. A simple one. To blog. I have this very good friend called procrastination. When I want to do something, he is the first to join me on board. He lends me all the support in the world for all my endeavors, lest I forget him. With friends like him, you need no enemies. \m/
Now that he is on a vacation abroad, I wanted to start this venture off. I have loved a lot of things in my life but few had hit me home like the Thirukkural. In the film called Julie and Julia, a woman tries to do all the recipes that that other lady has done with one every day and a one year time limit. Now, I thought to myself, why don’t you do something similar with your blog? But then, the phone rang, and I saw that P had given a missed call. Curse him.
Thirukural. What exactly is this? To those who don’t know, it is one of the most translated texts in the world and ranks quite high along with the Bible. It’s a Tamil text which has got 1330 two line poems which covers all the topics under the sun associated with life – god, values, governance, sex etc.
Now what am I going to do with this world famous text? Simple. I want to write a story for each of the 1330 verses in Thirukkural which have the essence/use of the verse in it. But I do not want to stop there. So, I thought of 10 major story arcs consisting of 133 stories interwoven in the fabric of each of the story arc. Now these 1330 stories should be independent in nature in that each is a story in their own right, but when read together, 133 of them at a time, they should form a major story arc. And these 10 major story arc should in turn form 1 epic story. 😀
I don’t know whether it is possible or within me to write 1330 different stories encompassing each of the verse itself let alone this gigantic project. But I will leave with my fav quote here.
