I am here early
Earlier than usual
There is no crowd
No familiar face either
I am smiling eerily
Eerier than usual
There are none who return it
Yet their lips stretch wide
I take a place at the back
An unrestricted view
Shrouded in the dark black
Everything under my purview
I feel a sense of control
Though I am not sure of what
My eyes rove in patrol
Searching to supplement my thought
And slowly they all come
One by one by one
Two by four by six
Hand in hand
Shoulder to shoulder
And with bags and Bags
Sunglasses cover their eyes
To shield them from the light
The light that was struggling to shine
In this den of darkness
A glass of water with ice
For the parched throat’s delight
The throat that wants the wine
To clear its knotted mess
And as the crowd descended
The volume ascended
For the paper needed for entry
Was not needed for exit
The night was over
And the day began.
